More information

Located on the west bank of the Guadalquivir River, Triana is one of Seville’s most characterful districts. Known for its flamenco roots, ceramic tradition and strong local identity, it offers a more traditional side of the city.

Background and history

Triana developed outside Seville’s historic walls and long maintained its own distinct personality. The neighborhood was historically home to sailors, potters and flamenco artists, many of whom worked in the nearby ports and kilns. Landmarks such as Calle Betis and Santa Ana Church reflect Triana’s deep cultural roots.

Why visit

Visitors come to Triana for its lively streets, riverside views and authentic atmosphere. The area is famous for flamenco performances, traditional tapas bars and local markets like Triana Market, built on the remains of a former castle. It is especially vibrant in the evenings, when locals gather along the river.
